site-specific performance

with
Noëmi Nadelmann, soprano
André Desponds, piano
Andrea Herdeg, dance
Adrian Schulthess, dance

herdeg&desponds were commissioned to create a site-specific performance inside a quartzite quarry, for the visit by Swiss Parliament. In this extraordinary setting two dancers, two small figures in an immense mass of stone, danced with a huge machine to the notes of Despond’s piano, perched on the digger’s platform, bouncing off the rock.

Not only did Andrea Herdeg and Adrian Schulthess give a breathtaking performance dancing in Switzerland’s biggest excavator to Ravel, with virtuoso playing by André Desponds, but also, the excavator shovel itself danced over the river Rhein with vertiginous speed’. Bündner Tagblatt
